Head Assistant Coach - 5th Season
Assistant Coach Steve Cook brings a wealth of soccer experience to Lawrence Technological University’s soccer program. He has been playing soccer for nearly 40 years and coaching for 26 years. Cook or Cookie, as he is known, began his career in England as a college and semi-professional player.
Cook earned a degree in Sports Studies from the University of Northumbria, in Newcastle, England, majoring in Coaching and Performance. He holds both a Union of European Football Associations 'B' License and US Soccer National Youth License and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Cook was involved in coaching development for the Football Association in England and was the head women’s coach at both Oxford United Football Club, a member club of the English Professional Football Association, and Oxford University.
In 1998, Cook moved to the U.S. and spent a year coaching in New Jersey. Since moving to Michigan, he has coached at the Troy Soccer Club, in various directorship roles for the Force Football Club, the Michigan State Girls Olympic Development Program, and Bloomfield Hills Lahser and Andover high schools. In 2008, his Lahser girls team was a state finalist, and he was named Regional High School Coach of the Year. He is now the Site Director for Liverpool FC IA-MI Ferndale Development Center.
Cook is also the owner of BritFit, a personal training and fitness company.
Assistant Coach - 2nd Season
Kyle Breitmeyer enters his first year as an assistant coach at Lawrence Tech in 2016-17. Breitmeyer grew up in the Metro Detroit area where he played for the Plymouth Kicks and Canton Celtic. Breitmeyer also played at Canton High School where he won All- Conference and All- District honors. He then went on to play for Liberty University where he appeared in over 50 games and won All- Conference and All- State honors as the top goal scorer in the 2012 season.
Breitmeyer has played in the Professional Developmental League for the Ocala Stampede where he helped the team win two division and one conference title. Finishing the 2013 season fifth in the country in assists. Kyle recently played with AFC Ann Arbor where he led the team in goal scoring for the 2015 season and most recently played with Toledo United where he was the leading goal scorer and helped the team win a division title in their first season.
Goalkeeper Coach - 2nd Season
Assistant Coach Josh Lance will be entering his first season with the Blue Devils Men's Soccer Team.
Lance graduated from Lawrence Tech in 2015 with a degree in Media Communications. He played four seasons as goalkeeper with LTU and has continued his playing career with Livonia City FC since graduating.
Lance is extremely excited to bring his goalkeeping knowledge and experience to the Blue Devil's coaching staff and looks forward to the upcoming season.
Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Brooks Laimbeer is entering his first year with the Blue Devils men’s soccer team. Laimbeer grew up in the Metro Detroit Area where he played youth soccer for the Birmingham Blazers and Bloomfield Force FC. He attended Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and while at OLSM he played two years of varsity soccer and won All-League honors.
After graduating from OLSM, Laimbeer decided to focus on school and attended Michigan State University where he covered the Michigan State Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams as well as Lansing United for MSU Impact Sports. In May 2015 he graduated from MSU with degrees in Journalism and Media Information. Laimbeer holds his USSF E Coaching License as well as a Soccer Management and Scouting Certificate from Sports Management Worldwide.
He currently is the Midwest Regional Scout for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer and is a Staff Coach for Michigan Jaguars FC.
